Abusive and unruly passenger forces Wizz Air plane to make emergency landing The Sun

AN unruly and abusive passenger has been arrested after a Wizz Air plane en route from Hungary to Iceland was forced to make an emergency landing.

Norwegian South West police said they were notified of an intoxicated Icelandic man in his 60s trying to get into the aircraft control room.

The plane was forced to turn around and land at Stavanger airport in the south of Norway just after 9am on Wednesday.

Sør-Vest police wrote on Twitter: "We are moving out to Stavanger airport after reporting a person who has disembarked on a plane.

"There is control of the person on board.

"The plane has not landed yet, and we are on our way out to take care of the situation as soon as the plane is on the ground.

"The course of events is unclear."

About an hour later, the service reported: "The plane has landed. We have taken out a male passenger in his 60's.

"No one has been harmed. We are working to clarify what has happened."

The man has been arrested, Stavanger airport police chief Kjetil Andersen said.

The fire department and police were on standby at the airport.

The passenger plane was on its way from Hungary to Iceland.

According to Flightradar, the plane landed just after 10am.

The man was thought to be under the influence of alcohol, TV2 reported.

A Wizz Air spokeswoman told Sun Online: "On Wizz Air flight W6 2427 from Budapest to Keflavik on 15 August, a passenger was reported to become unruly and abusive.

"Our cabin crew handled the situation as they are trained to do. The Captain made the decision to divert the flight to Stavanger Airport and call the police.

"The aircraft landed uneventfully and upon landing, the passenger was handed over to the respective authorities."
