BELINDA Carlisle remembered Hugh Hefner on Good Morning Britain today 16 years after she posed topless on the cover of Playboy.

The veteran pop star has shared her fond memories of stripping off for the raunchy magazine following news that the publishing mogul has passed away at the age of 91.

News of Hefner's death broke last night and sent the world of entertainment into mourning.

During an appearance on Lorraine today, Belinda, 59, opened up about her experiences meeting him and revealed the publishing mogul was good friends with her husband.

She revealed she visited the Playboy mansion on many occasions, and she joked that the only place she didn't go was the infamous grotto.

The singer said: "He was the nicest man. I had such a great experience.

"When I was asked I was 40 and I had to ask my mum first, she said 'Well, yeah, and he made it really easy.

"He’s wonderful to work with, he’s a long-time friend of my husband. I’ve been to the Playboy Mansion many times."

She added: "Just stay out of the grotto. As long as you don’t go to the grotto, you’re fine."

Staff at Hefner's Playboy company announced news of his death last night in a statement, and stars including Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Katie Price all flocked to Twitter to pay tribute.

In a post on Twitter, Kim wrote: "RIP to the legendary Hugh Hefner! I’m so honored to have been a part of the Playboy team! You will be greatly missed! Love you Hef! Xoxo."

Paris shared a montage of pictures showing her with Hefner and she added a sweet message about the Playboy founder.

She wrote: "So sad to hear the news about Hugh Hefner.

"He was a legend, innovator & one of a kind. We had many fun & incredible memories together.

Kim later revealed she had been texting her longtime pal Paris and they were reminiscing about their times at the mansion with Hefner.

She tweeted: "Paris & I are reminiscing about the Playboy parties at the mansion & how much we love Hef. She’s texts me the perfect Hef emojis 👯👯👯👯👴🏼👯👯👯👯👯."

His son Cooper also offered some words as a tribute to his dad.

In a statement, Cooper said: "My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.

"He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history.

"He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises."
