The blaze is believed to have started in a restaurant's ventilation system between the ground and first floors.

London Fire Brigade were called at 10.21am and sent about 35 firefighters to battle the fire.

Crews said a small part of the restaurant and an external ventilation system, which led to an adjacent block of flats, were damaged.

A cordon was set up around the blaze, with no injuries reported.

The fire was extinguished by 12.42 and London Fire Brigade said roads around the scene will be reopened shortly.

A spokesperson said: “Restaurant and take-away owners should always take care to make sure their extraction systems are kept clean as a build up of fat and grease within the filters can lead to a fire.”
