Fans taken to hospital after driver loses control and hits crowd

EMERGENCY Services have rushed to a Scottish football stadium after an accident outside the grounds.

A large blue light presence descended on Palmerston Park in Dumfries, home to Queen of the South, after their game against Dundee United.

It's understood a male motorist had a medical incident while driving, lost control of their vehicle and hit a couple of supporters before crashing into another car.

Spectators are said to have been taken to hospital with minor injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The condition of the driver is not known.

Pictures from the scene show a number of ambulances and police cars at the stadium.

The Dundee United team doctor, Stephen Galbraith, is understood to have been one of the first helpers at the scene.

First aiders from the stadium can be seen helping paramedics amid the incident.

And event staff were in attendance providing support.

An onlooker said: "I heard screams of help and police just after it happened.
