Gogglebox's brand new couple Annie and Ronnie get viewers' seal of approval after mass exodus of sta

GOGGLEBOX'S brand new cast members Annie and Ronnie have got the viewers' seal of approval after a mass exodus of stars.

The married couple made their debut on the popular Channel 4 show tonight.

The two - who live together in South East London - were introduced five minutes into the episode.

Not much is known about the newbies, but one thing for sure is they are a huge fan of low calorie crisps as they chomped away on them whilst watching TV.

And they certainly got a warm welcome from viewers.

One wrote on Twitter: "I love the new couple already #gogglebox."

Another said: "More new people Nice #gogglebox."

A third chimed in: "New people!! #gogglebox

Their debut comes shortly after it was revealed producers are hunting for new people to join the show.

They would like their new cast members to be from Scotland.

The decision comes after MP Pete Wishart created a petition for a Scottish family to be part of the programme.

Two months ago the Scottish Affairs Committee reviewed how much presence Scotland had within Channel 4 - and revealed there is a "lack of a Scottish family on Gogglebox".

Since then Channel 4’s chief executive Alex Mahon has revealed that a separate budget has been created to help find the perfect family to star in the 19th series early next year.

Back in September it was confirmed that FIVE stars left the show ahead of the new series after being affected by tragic deaths.

The hit programme has sadly lost three of its beloved stars in recent months, and their family members will not be returning to the show.

Executive producer Victoria Ray explained: "We have had people from the show pass away recently.

"We lost Mary and Andy, and a little while ago we lost Pete. Their loved ones won't be taking part in the show for the moment. Understandably, they want their privacy."

She added to Daily Star that all of the stars have the option to return to Gogglebox in the future if they would like to.

In June, Pete McGarry passed away at the age of 71, with he and wife Linda delighting fans when they appeared on the sofas alongside their son George Gilbey - who went on to star in Celebrity Big Brother.

While George had long-quit the show, Linda and Pete made occasional appearances in recent series - but Linda will not be taking part as she continues to grieve her husband.

Mary Cook died last month at the age of 92, and her best friend Marina has stepped away from the show after they won over fans with their endearing relationship.

Shortly after Mary's death was revealed, it was sadly announced that Andy Michael had also passed away after a short illness at the age of 61.

He'd appeared on the show since the very first series alongside his wife Carolyne and their children Alex and Louis, with their two other children Katy and Pascal also making infrequent appearances over the years.
