Who is Ruth Wilson?
Ruth Wilson, 36, was born in Middlesex in January 1982.
During her teenage years, she worked as a model.
She studied history at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 2003.
Ruth then attended the London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA), graduating in 2005.
She grew up near Shepparton Studios and credits being close to the action for sparking her interest in the craft.
As well as her acting ability, she is well known for her distinct looks - her arched eyebrows and pouting lips.
Of her looks, she told the Express: "I remember a few comments about my lips when I was younger. It was a family trait and my cousin has similar lips.
How did Ruth Wilson become an actress?
She starred in sitcom Suburban Shootdown alongside Tom Hiddleston in 2006 before finding fame in BBC's Jane Eyre also in 2006.
She was nominated for a Bafta, Golden globe and Satellite Award for her portrayal of the heroine.
She has also tread the boards in a number of plays including A Streetcar Named Desire and Eugene O'Neill's Anna Christie with Jude Law.
Since then Ruth has starred in Luther as Alice Morgan, and she has been playing the role of Alison Bailey on The Affair for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress last year.
Her film I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

Although Jane Eyre shot her to fame, The Affair has catapulted her even higher.
The show explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship between Noah Solloway and Alison Lockhart (Dominic West and Ruth Wilson) when they meet in the resort town of Montauk in Long Island.
The series is now in its fourth season.
