Proud parents share World Book Day photos of their children all dressed up

PROUD parents have been sharing photos of their kids in their World Book Day outfits despite schools being shut across much of the country.

The annual celebration of reading sees kids dress up as their favourite characters from fiction.

And while many won't be able to compare costumes with classmates because of the havoc wreaked by The Beast From The East - they are not letting them go to waste.

Teacher Rose Edmondson, from Rawtenstall, Lancs shared a snap of her two kids, writing: “School might be closed but World Book Day is still very much happening in our house. Charlie opted for Harry and Olivia for Vrajak Paw.”

Rachel Mcroy from Mexborough, South Yorks, shared a pic of son Jack Mellard, five in his Where’s Wally outfit, writing: “Aw poor laddo was so excited for World Book Day and school’s cancelled.”

Rebecca Hisco from Leeds shared a snap of four-year-old daughter Amelia Jones in her costume, writing: “School’s closed so we have one of the 3 little pigs at home with us for the day”.

Dexter French, five, proudly sported his Gruffalo outfit despite being off school. Mum Liza, from Bristol, wrote: “Someone still wanted to go as The Gruffalo! So cute.”

Paige Thomas, six, from Manchester didn’t let her Queen Of Hearts costume go to waste either.

Grace Kitching's kids put on a brave face under the circumstances: Amira, seven, sported a Harry Potter costume, while four-year-old Izaan was dressed as the Gruffalo. Grace, from High Wycombe wrote: “Both upset World Book Day is cancelled! But let the fun in the snow begin!”

A Star Wars storm trooper costume proved a popular choice. Five-year-old Joshua Sammon from Manchester was pictured wearing his this morning.

And Aj Wadley, five, was caught on camera enjoying the snow in his back garden in the same outfit.

It comes as Coleen Rooney led the celebrities showing off their World Book Day outfits.

The WAG - who gave birth to her fourth child Cass last month - took to Twitter this morning to show off sons Klay, Kit and Kai's costumes.

Eldest son Kai, eight, and Klay, four, both opted to dress like the Roald Dahl character The BFG, wearing green trousers, a white top with a brown waistcoat and huge ears.

Klay even went one step further and donned some fake eyebrows too, while younger brother Kit, two, opted to dress up like Peter Pan.

World Book Day events are cancelled for some but Aj Wadley, 5, is rocking his Star Wars Stormtrooper costume in the snow
